Depeche Mode 101 is a live album, documenting DM's 101st
concert of their tour in support of their landmark Music for the
Masses album. The band
hired legendary documentary filmmaker D.A. Pennebaker to follow
them throughout their tour of the US. The film was released
as a feature film in 1989, bearing the same name. The film
received critical acclaim, while stealing the thunder of U2 after
their own heavily hyped "scripted" documentary
"Rattle and Hum" became a huge flop. Recorded
live from the Rose Bowl, Pasadena, California on June 18, 1988 in
front of a sold-out crowd of 70,000! To help commemorate such a
triumph, the band re-released Everything Counts with new mixes.
